It's just stunning mate. I can only imagine how much intimate detail you have discovered. Your work is exceptional.

Hello All,
The Stirling had a set of rails around the top of the tender.
I have been working on these for the last few days. I turned up the posts out of 6.3mm Aluminium round. The difficult part was the corner posts. I needed to drill 2mm holes at 90 degrees to each other so I could insert the 2mm wire. Gave up trying to use a vice - couldn't get the vice to hold the material properly. Held them buy hand (long lengths which I cut off after the drilling so my hand wasn't close to the drill bit) Aluminium drills pretty well as long as you have a good centre prop mark, a sharp drill and some cutting fluid.
I used 2mm straightened wire for my railings.
I made up a dummy board to sit the posts and railings in. This I marked up the same positioning as I was going the drill the tender. This allowed me to get all my positioning correct without accidentally drilling my tender incorrectly.
This board also allowed me to set up the railings and posts and spray paint prime them away from the locomotive.
The wires are held in position at each post with a dab of 5 minute Araldite.
Now onto turning up the tender brake adjustment body and handle.
Regards
Keith

Painting is going to be a big issue and time consumer Derek.
I have an "N" Scale railway layout - (Going from large to extremely small) that I want to get up and running.
I still have an inkling to build a 1/5th or 1/6th scale Diesel locomotive to add to my other 3 locomotives as a progression of the locomotives over 200 years
There is not enough time in the week - how did we ever have time to work ?
Regards
Keith

You are pretty much correct there Steve.
Here is an "N" Scale diesel locomotive beside my Stirling.
A bit of a rework now being done on the Stirling today. As they say - "can't see the wood for the trees". When looking at the rear buffer assembly on the tender - it was quite obvious that the front buffer assembly is not wide enough. It's been taken off and now being reworked and widened. The buffers will be repositioned as well.
Cathie is at her girlfriend's place tomorrow, so I will probably be able to get 6 hours work on it in the shed at least tomorrow. Think the front will look much better in proportion.

Keith

What a fantastic image. With all your detail it makes the Stirling look like a full size engine.
