Thanks guys, I showed it to my old man and he agreed that it wasn't right, the recipients were happy but I said I'd make a replacement some time in the future.
There's mechanical and electrical stuff to do for now so I won't be starting a new one this week. I'm still not sure what to make from timber, my niece and nephew have enough toys for now.

Sort of a toy, sort of wood......
Got annoyed by a friend's subwoofer floating around with his passengers so I figured I'd make a safer more stealthy enclosure. It was a bit more difficult than I expected, I managed to get 8.5L internal volume which is only 1.5L above the minimum volume so it will not play as low as I would have liked but it is safe and out of the way.

Bought a toy a couple of months ago to let me do decent winch wiring, most come with stupidly small cables but I like big stuff. I have had a lot of work to do on this car and it is almost up to spec now, the previous owner was an idiot and stuffed everything he touched.

Still no new toys but I have been doing loads of Landcare and may have a medium size and a couple of smaller Camphor Laurels to cut down in the future.
I have never worked with the timber but some of looks fantastic and may make a nice dolphin after a year or so of drying.

Have a couple of toys to make for Christmas this year, a robot with a small clock in it's stomach area and a jewellery box, haven't made a box yet and I just threw my Triton Workcentre out so it may be interesting.
I bought a new Bosch trimmer which is magic compared to the old Ryobi, oddly the kit I bought isn't available in Australia, mine has more accessories than the local variant.
Just nabbed a ~200 piece marquetry veneer pack for $50 delivered, expect lots of layering

This is the 1/4" trimmer, it worked out to be about $300 which is okay value, I like these more than the Makita as it is not as top heavy and most of the stuff I rout(route?) is pretty small. Annoyingly it is on a rectangle base like the Ryobi so if you are using a template you have to mindful of the different offset or switch to the circular base.

I bought the router in Scotland to rout some aluminium on a macro camera rig, did the job very nicely even with a Chinese bit.

I'd think the old green ones are as good as the current blue ones, my Ryobi was getting past it's used by date, the worn bearings seemed to make it be ore likely to tear out, the on/off switch was dangerous and they should have been recalled for that, probably 10 times I laid it down on the switch side and it powered up and jumped off the bench. The Bosh is just a nice simple, solid little machine, it lacks the speed control of the Makita but I woun't use any larger bits so it doesn't matter.
I got my corner clamps for the box, LEDs for the robot's eyes and veneer, just need the clock an I can start the robot-

Rough plan, clock arrived today but it was rubbish quality and stupidly noisy so I bought this one-

The robot never happened, a lack of sleep and keenness for woodworking knocked that on the head.
My boss bought a bluetooth speaker for work and I was unhappy with it's performance so I ordered some drivers, made some crossovers and started building an enclosure. The rear will be a ply fibreglass box that will be painted in black crinkle, the box is port tuned to around 75Hz.

It's been a long time between woodwork, I have purchased some new tools, grabbed a track saw, 6" Metabo sander and a used Festool 1/2" sheet sander.
I have been using my cordless die grinder to do some carving this time and it works fairly well.

Still no new toys but I whipped up some bird boxes as my neighbours leave their cats out all day and night and they roam the creek next to me.

I'm not sure how to upload a full size image now.
