Great news. Every time I use my tape or see a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo I think of your missing tape!

Alas i missed the months of agony worrying about your tape, but reading this post this morning is a nice "feel good news story" to start my day.
    VERY relatable too

Derek, that Festool tape is one of mine - the one I keep in my apron pocket, except when I leave it somewhere. I was wondering where it was, thanks for finding it.

    Good try Alex!

It's a nice little tape measure. 3m and tucks away. Accurate.

    Regards from Perth

Yes, and very convenient for measuring internal dimensions.

Well I too am greatly relived to hear that the Great Tape Hunt is over. I was getting so much anxiety over it I almost bought a 3rd tape in case the backup tape went missing at the same time as my main tape.

In the end I built a special shelf and painted it white for my tape so with one glance across the shed I can reassure myslef that my tape is safe and well.
    Phew!

I recommend installing a pressure-sensitive switch and a klaxon alarm in case someone nicks it again.

I think I might attach a GPS tracker to it. The other normal style tapes don't worry me, I have lost and destroyed heaps of them over the years.

Good point. Chris is probably just trying to put our minds at ease. For all we know that tape measure is still lying helplessly out there in the wilderness.

Do not worry. It has plenty of friends with it.

Tie 100cm fluorescent orange flagging tape to the tape measure. Those never get lost.
