Well Derek - most definitely the next step on the Rocket build will be the carriage. I am looking forward to the detail on the interior. I have found some photos with doors open which should make this a little easier

Keith, quick tip, when u unplug the external hard drive, make sure you "right mouse click" on the safe to remove button (icon with a USB and a green tick) as they might be great to store everything on but if u don't disconnect properly when u unplug it, it could accidentally de-partition the hard drive and u lose everything. Would be a shame.
it happened to me, whilst at a friends place, I was copying stuff over to my drive and he just unplugged when finished - boof - gone. Now I have a nice paper weight. 2hrs work down the tube, and 165 movies.

First class carriage will be a challenge, a third class open carriage for us commoners should be a breeze (but will need to hold onto our hats).
A carriage or two for goods and you will make a train.
Hope the shed is cosy and warm to help the paint dry and soon Rocket can be "Wheeled" out into the sunshine.

I know you know this but making two can be nearly as easy as one.
How about an open carriage and a first class, I was thinking the mains carriage would be the same just cheaper woods and no roof and fancy stuff for the other, they didn't have Cabooses back then did they, I love a good Caboose? lol.

Hi all,
Spent quite a few hours on the locomotive today. I have now assembled and finished off all the pipework on the locomotive section.
The "bare" steel sections (the connecting rods, the smoke stack struts and ancillary shafting I have painted with an automotive spray paint "pewter" in colour. This gives it a more authentic look I think than just the mild steel and aluminium material that I used. Happy with how the copper and brass came up using the different spray cans.
Now it is onto the painting of the wheels.
Regards

Keith, just be careful. Once you start on the wheels you will be going around in circles.
Coming up a treat.

Hi All,
Well I have finally completed the first section of this build - my version of Stephenson's Rocket and Tender. The next section of the build will be the "Traveller" carriage that the "Rocket"" pulled.
The wheel were given 9 coats of paint and I used a 0.7mm tip acrylic paint pen to do the black detail around the hub of the main drive wheels. I drilled and tapped the ends of the main axles so I could screw the "Brass" retaining cap on to hold the wheel in position.
The photos show both sides of the locomotive and me to give an indication of size of the locomotive.
So far I have put 560 hours of work into this. I am pretty happy with the outcome so far. Thanks so much to Fletty for the detailed photos he took for me whilst in England and for lending me his book on the Rocket. Thanks to all Forum members who have viewed my progress so far and the great comments and support - Thanks guys
The next part of the build will be difficult - with very little detail to go on - I am going to have to make up the stuff as I go along. I will be working from wheels up on the carriage.
The track won't be done until after the Loco and Carriage are completed.
Anyway - Thanks everyone
Regards
Keith
