Well done. Another first class model from Keith's shed.
Now remember that Rocket did not pull just one carriage so you may need to make a second (or third). Perhaps we also need one or two people on the footplate.
When it comes to track, there can never be enough, just depends on how much Cathie lets you build.

And Keith, may I suggest another loco to consider which is heaps bigger and way more powerful, something the USA built during WW2....Cheers, Peter
Norfolk & Western #1218
The Norfolk and Western 1218 was part of the railroad's "Class A" 2-6-6-4 steam locomotives. These steamers had no formal name although aside from the N&W's three other railroad's used the 2-6-6-4 locomotives including the Seaboard Air Line, Erie, and Pittsburgh & West Virginia. However, the N&W's were unique in that all were custom built by the railroad's shop forces in Roanoke, Virginia who were master steam locomotive builders. As such, they were the most powerful 2-6-6-4s ever built and featured one of the most powerful tractive efforts of any steam locomotive ever built. Today, Norfolk and Western 1218 is the sole surviving 2-6-6-4 and is preserved in excellent condition (despite missing many parts from a partial rebuild never completed it the 1990s) at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke.

Wow, that's enormous.
Would need to build a house extension before I could even attempt that Peter.
Thanks for the post

Hi All,
I am now onto the carriage
162.jpg
The carriages each have three - six seat compartments. They are named Traveller and Huskisson. Huskisson was a Liverpool MP who was struck and killed by the Rocket on it's opening ceremony.
166.jpg
The wheels on the carriage are slightly larger than that of the tender. Each wheel has 8 spokes - which is good for me because it means less sanding. I have machined up the inners (spokes and hub) and outers (rims) on the woodlathe. Now will draw up the spokes and cut out on the bandsaw.

Keith, just remember my offer, I will send through a photo of a selection of engines for you to chose from, which you can borrow (f you'd like) to get an idea from. and maybe a freight car or 3.
I heard that Old Sydney town theme park was for sale, maybe you need to buy this, and open "Keith's train yard" to house all these engines.
cheers, Richard

Hi All,
Because there is not a lot of detail around regarding this carriage - I decided to scale up a photo I had that will give my an idea on the dimensions without having to constantly go for my calculator.
The photo shows a bit of an indication on what the locomotive and carriage will look like after completion.
Will at some stage be looking to get some miniature hinges for the doors. Perhaps will ask in the Boxmaking section of the forum ?
Regarding the wheels - have cut out the spokes and assembled and then filed, sanded and primed.
Regards
Keith

Next to steam trains; Fords are the deal!!
A Shelby Mustang please Keith or a Shelby Cobra or maybe a PH3 GTHO would be a nice Sunday drive!!
My 2011 XR6 is going very well.....
PS - I'd also consider a Mk1 Lotus Cortina or a Ford Cosworth Sierra and of course a 1932 T Bucket with a blown Big Block!!
