An even more expensive motorcycle.
Went down to a small village south of here 2 weeks ago to see the annual car and bike show.
There was one bike in particular I wanted to see in the flesh/steel.
It is the Vincent black Lightning that sold earlier this year at auction in the US. Here is a clip of the auction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIQ3Ao3UCMM

i had a shadow for a brief period back in the 80’s, so I know how good they were.

This bike was an out and out race bike. Notice the back wheel has a sprocket either side. One for racing, the other for racing with a sidecar. Just turn the wheel around for the correct gearing.
These 2 sandwich boards say a bit more about the bike.

Thanks Artful for posting this and the link to the auction.
I expect most of the aficionados will know the Rollie Free story and his "swimsuit" ride, but a quick link for those that don't.

A mate of mine has finished restoring a 650 Norton which he has owned since new and is now finding it difficult to ride because of his age. It is such a wonderful job, he even made the new replacement speedometer instrument gears by hand using a magnifier because they are so small.
