Maleny Wood Expo 2019
I don't see any thread on here for the Maleny Wood Expo 2019. Yet it is this long weekend. In 3 days time!
Am I just looking in the wrong place?

I’m going; I’ve booked myself a coopering workshop for the Monday and already committed myself to buying a Dunstone bowsander and one of Chris Vespers exquisite little precision squares.
Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

I went today. The wet day meant that is was not jammed packed like it was last year. Us Queenslanders are real softies like that. But there were plenty of people and plenty going on. I thought that coopering course looked interesting also.
Dai Sensi, I was the guy walking past with the Gidge boards under his arm. Was that you who gave me a shout out? I had to leave earlier than planned.
I went to buy some timber and also to film a video to show you all what goes on. Things started out well enough but it didn't go according to plan.
So I made a video to tell the story. I am uploading it now, so I'll post a link on here soon, once it is ready.

Video of the Maleny Wood Expo 2019
OK my little video should be ready in half an hour from now.
This will be the link to it: https://youtu.be/kf0IQ78JOEk
Sadly, in the end only the first few minutes of the video shows you the Expo. The rest is more me talking about the timbers I purchased. That wasn't how it was supposed to go. If you watch through to the end, you'll find out why that happened. However I hope you enjoy the video nonetheless.
There's always next year's show.

Thanks for the video Dave. Maleny is a fabulous event, I attended for the first time in 2017, hopefully I will get back there next year. I reckon it is a timber buyers paradise, and you certainly did well with your purchases. Looking forward to see what you create in the following months.
I hope Titto recovers quickly, they are fabulous friends to have around the workshop.

Thanks for the good wishes.
Maleny is definitely a great show. Unfortunately they still have not provided an easy way to get your heavy wood purchases to your vechicle. That's the only gripe I have about this event.

Dave, You could write the organisers a kind & politely worded email on their contact page of the website
Contact — Maleny Wood Expo 2019
also they have a Facebook page to write and add comments to if you’re into that social media
But sir, do give them positive and constructive feedback as it helps everyone

We went up early (sort of) Saturday and chanced the rain, it was a great morning, overcast and raining on the way but no rain to speak of up in the mountain. My wife only took a few photos but though I'd share them anyway. Of course the weather today is perfect and sunny, but I think we beat the crowd by chancing to go on a rainy Saturday morning.
A lot of exhibits and this still remains one of our favourite yearly Wood shows ever.

Thanks guys for the video & photos. Missed out this year.
Sue & I had the whole weekend planned Melaney Saturday, Toowoomba Lost Trades today, Monday recovery.
During the week Sue's hip, knee & ankle became worse, weather forcast predicted the rain, my wheelchair just wouldn't handle mud, slush and being bogged. So a weekend catching up with things to at home.
Besides I've got more than enough tools & timber [emoji6][emoji1781]

Thanks for the pic's Mike and the video Dave. Dave, I've always understood Australian Red Mahogany to be Red Stringybark (Eucalyptus Macrorhyncha), so a eucalypt not a wattle. It wouldn't surprise me if there are other closely related species that are included under the common name as Red Mahogany. But, I'm no expert so I stand to be corrected.

It was an excellent event again this year. Most vendors will assist with a trolley to move heavier items or store them for collection near closing time. There was a very good range of timber available to suit most budgets and project lists. Some of the very best Red Cedar that I have seen in a long while, especially the offerings from Cedar Works.
