also, it seems that the followed threads emails only get sent once a day (currently ~11am Sydney time) so don't stress until after lunch tomorrow

    Thanks again Franklin.

Still no emails coming through from the forum.
As well as your reply here there was another later post on a thread , the 4x2 thread in General woodwork at 3.01.

All subscriptions are set at Instant . So I can see if one gets sent through asap.

All my other emails, ebay and business ones as well as the annoying ones keep coming as well as one from Metal work forums a week back.

    Any other suggestions ?

    I'm Back in!
I cant believe the hassle Ive been through to get back on forum .
locked out twice, not from viewing signed, on but from replying or posting new threads. Except on Market place . I was waiting for email verification emails from forum that never arrived.

My problem was my internet provider Optus . What a pain in the butt they have caused. Turns out forum email was being sent to the spam folder , as Neil said back in post 9.

Optus just stopped receiving forum emails . I un spammed forum emails and nothing came through to the inbox after that.

I opened a new email address with Gmail today with the expert help from 18yo daughter.
    And it worked!

Sure did a lot of hours learning about Optus and Webmail and passwords and trying all sorts of stuff out without a soloution.

Now to see if subscribed thread emails start arriving at the new gmail acc.

    Default Me too.

Rather than start a new thread on the same subject I’ll add that I’m experiencing the same problem of not receiving email from subscribed threads. I’m first to admit that I sometimes overlook things but I’m pretty sure that the settings are right. I did turn them off while we were away and after resetting I haven’t received any since returning and I’ve checked junk/spam folders so any suggestions will be appreciated.

Haven't heard any more about this from Auscabs since his Feb post so guess it worked for him.

Seems a number of service providers have taken it upon themselves to pull what they reckon is spam from the recipients emails. Probably because they can recognize them as being auto-generated.

Put [email protected] on your email trusted list and if that doesn't work ask you service provider to put it on theirs. Failing all else get a gmail or other account not associated with your current service provider.

If that doesn't work then ????

We do have a forum upgrade coming, been coming since December last year but haven't quite been able to get it done yet. Hopefully if and when we finally get it done it may fix this problem but I doubt it.

It's almost invariably at the users end (that's you) and not ours. If it wasn't we would be inundated with hundreds and hundreds of complaints instead of the odd one.

Hope this is of some help apple8.

    Cheers - Neil

PS Of course it's always possible that your apple 8 the email.

I'd suggest that you DONT , what ever you do , change the email address the forum has for you while using the same server that may or may not be the problem. Test it by first swapping to a new email with a different server. Like Gmail or what ever.

I did that mistake to try and see if the forum would send a notification to a new email address,( same server ,Optus), to my home email rather than my work email. I was trying to find out what the problem was, Forum or Optus.

Once I changed it the forum wants a reply to an email verification it sends you to verify your new email address.

Optus was blocking forum emails, I didnt know this at the time. I couldn't unblock them and I wasn't getting the email for verification that was sent .

So I was Locked out and didn't know why , I didn't know if it was a forum malfunction or Optus. I was just locked out getting nothing .

Trying to get help by sending an email to [email protected] didn't work as I assume they weren't getting them because of Optus. That was trying with both my Home and work email address's. The penny hadn't dropped that both may not be getting through.

It wasn't until I changed to a Gmail account and typed that into the forum box ( locked out but still had some access) for emails to be sent to me that a verification email finally came through to my new Gmail account.

I never solved the Optus problem . I don't think it could be solved . They have made changes that have a lot of angry online mail being sent around on the Optus forum about Optus deciding what mail you get and don't get.

My new Gmail is not as good at forum notifications as Optus was when it was working . I only use the Gmail for the forum . Its sending me updates on threads I don't want . And an email about a new post can arrive hours after a new post was placed . Its a Pain that I'm putting up with . Maybe playing with the settings will stop the updates thing ?

    Rob .

    Rob .
Thanks, I gave this some thought overnight and changed the email address to a past provider that Is still active and see how that goes to eliminate the Apple servers from the equation. Strangely when I was waiting for the confirmation email, it showed one email in the box but nothing when opened then it showed two waiting, this time when opened it was there ??? I’ll see how it goes.

    so obvious you're a dad

Changing the email address to another provider worked. As far as I can see I am unable to whitelist as the emails are not being received from the apple servers, this suggests to me that they are blocking either the domain name or the email IP address. This would then infer that others with an apple email address are blocked too from receiving notification which would have been raised before but maybe there is not that many. Anyway it's working for me now so I am happy to leave it at that.

    Neil,
I don't receive all my subscribed threads. I wonder if this is because if a daily notification exceeds a certain number then my ISP (iinet) treats them as spam?
Is it possible to publish the number of daily posts for each sub-forum, so that we can examine this possibility?
    regards
    Chris

placed a query with my ISP as follows:
" I am a member of a very large woodworking forum, which sends out daily updates to members subscribed to various sub-forums. I find that some of these daily updates often do not arrive, but the sender insists they were sent, and suggests that you are blocking them. My understanding is that if you regard something as spam, I will still receive it, but placed in the junk mail folder.

Can you tell me if this is correct, or are you blocking emails that I never see?

    The sender is [email protected]

    Thank you"

I spoke to them and they insisted they are not blocking anything - here is their reply:
    "Hello Chris,

Thank you for your call about your email query, however as requested, this is a confirmation to state that you are not blocked on your webmail on our end.

If you have anymore inquries please give us a call.

    Kind regards,

    HI,
Come to think of it, I have not had a newsletter in some time and I was getting up to 3 copies a time at one stage.
