Thread: Dyco 12" Table Saw

I don't know much about them. Dyco was based in Auckland and I believe there was some tie in with Masport (Mason and Porter) who had a foundry.
I believe the "Superfine" was a top of the line model, and reasonable quality.

Generally Dyco aren't as well regarded as Tanner, the other significant NZ woodworking machinery manufacturer, also based in Auckland.

I have a 4" Dyco buzzer with a 1/4 hp motor. It's recently stopped working. I must check it out as neither of my Wadkin buzzers are near running yet

I have seen some Masports the same\similar. It seems sturdy and well built BUT if I was to compare it to a Wadkin AGS there is about 200kg between them so not really comparable. It'll do the job for now until I find me a Wadkin AGS or BGS slider.

Nice work! Always had a soft spot for these machines, they remind me of the Unisaw a bit and that's a holy grail machine for me.

One issue I had (not major) was the single phase 3HP motor was bigger than the 3HP 3 Phase motor but just worked around it.

I had one for many years, with the sliding table set up which was a bit of a heath robinson affair, The saw did work very well

It works well and I built a ~100kg traditional roubo bench with it after the restore and it wen't like a dream. Anyway not much out there on these machines so would be keen to know of others who have one or has come across one in NZ and Australia.

I know this is an old thread but I'm doing the same restoration, your saw looks exact the same as mine.

How did you remove the arbour shaft to replace the bearings? I'm having a hard time to do it.

Another question is: how did you connect the new motor to the flange? The motors I saw for sale here in NZ have a base underneath them and not a lateral flange.

I've never bought one, but I do see flange mounted motors on Trademe frequently. Unfortunately mostly bigger, 3-phase motors.

However what you want must be available here in NZ, it's just a matter of finding out who stocks them.
