Now where is that hari kari knife. Oh, just a quick question. What do the league of plane makers think I should go to on the grits? I have 10,000 but I am thinking 6,000 will be sufficient. It is only one use after all and it is all a bit gutless.

Paul, I think you should use toothpaste as your final lapping compound, I’m mean it’s just a fine abrasive in a mint smelling carrier after all.
But we would need to see prove, using an optical flat of course.

    Cheers Matt.

Nope. I've changed my mind. The sharpening aspect has become too difficult. I am going to resort to the devil drink instead.

PS: It's still an alright plane. I suppose.

PPS: Is that an ecclesiastical tablet, the product of a fruit company and can we expect ten more commandments any time soon?

First I checked the 123,s time, that my sides were as close, as I was going to get them to the soul.

Then it was screwed to the peening block, before being moved to the body manipulation zone.
Hear it was mounted high on the sacrifice table, were we both prayed to the hammer gods, that all my blows would be precise, that all my joints would flow together(not those types [emoji3064]).
That the metal would yield to the god of hammers.

Well after considerable effort(re arm pain) and praying, I was rewarded with a considerable mess of bashed up metal, but one must see beyond the skin to see the beauty that is behold.and do some more filling[emoji3064].

Finally,an I hope the Judges note, I’m on the exhibition table cloth.

We were rewarded, tho there’s still one side to file an a heap of sanding to be done plus lots of other fun stuff.
Probably some Zen filling an Zen like sanding.

    Cheers Matt.

That’s looking real good Matt, it’s a credit to you.

I have been wondering how you are going to attach the rear handle, if I remember correctly you are not using a rear infill, but we’re using a rear tote like on a Stanley plane. Will you rivit a plate in position with threaded holes to attach the handle to ?

And yet I remember you kept saying bigger is better. Isn't that why your plane got that long ?

It’s all relative, I need a bigger plane, to make a bigger stick, to ward of the other bigger stick lol.

    Cheers Matt.

    Brad,
    Your right I’m using a rear handle(Tote).

I’m contemplating inserting a captive nut deep into the tote, then bolting this through from the soul.

But I haven’t worked it all out yet,I could also just rivet a plate to the soul also,
To be honest it’s a work in progress lol.

    Cheers Matt.

I'd go for the riveted plate. It looks really good on Gakos' scrub plane.

Thanks for posting that link to the video, I had only seen the photos on Instagram so far, but glad I sat through the 20 minutes to see the build.

    Default Challenge 2020 - 2021 Simplicity

Well as of today the Victoria Government has decided they do really prefer me paying taxes, so they have decided I can go back to work tomorrow,
So ,fortunately or unfortunately ,depending were you sit on the fence that’s a good thing.

If your easily bored by me, skip to the pretty pictures now.
    My plane build so far
    I have in point form.
I hate chocolate and got fatter
I cut some steel up, then had a think
    I butchered some brass,
    Filled some brass
Cut some shapes that look like a certain birds rear end.
    Ate more crap food.
Did some more filling of metal,
Put a slot in a piece of metal(mouth)
Put three pieces of metal on a piece of wood, and bashed it with hammer.
The cried because my arm was sore.
    Had a drink.
Filed more metal, listening to heavy metal.
    Than filed some more.
Cut some Forest Red Gum up , then threw it out the door because the saw cut it wrong.
Then did some other stuff ,but my attention span has crashed ,lol.
Then got told to close the fridge, your bored.

Short version of the too do list poo load heaps to go.

So my build will possibly be on a go slow movement, while I do some paying work for a bit.

    But I’m getting there.

    Cheers Matt.
I’ve also requested a table cloth change,my Dennist thinks I should recover “ok”
