    Default First Pen

Thought I'd take up pen turning to make use of those pretty little bits and pieces one has hanging around. This one's Western Sheoak (Allocasuarina Fraseriana) finished with Shellac.DSCN0018.jpg

That's a great start. I bet it will be the first of many - family and friends will make sure you get plenty of practice. Nice work, and welcome to the addictive world of pen turning

    Cheers, Gary

That's a nice looking pen. The fit of the wood to the metal parts and the finish look spot on.

You should have started before now and everyone would have received a pen for Christmas. There will be no stopping you now though. Well done!

Thank you all very much for your encouragement. There is indeed something a wee bit addictive to this pen turning, and it's a really nice way to use bits and pieces that might otherwise be difficult to use. It reminds me of when I used to make Airfix models as a kid, I'm now spending far too much time scouring seller's websites looking at their pen kits.
