Thanks Paul. I do remember seeing that at the time but have been going through it again, some good ideas there.

At the time I used bearings that I had. They were larger than ideal and I have since obtained smaller bearing, but have not had the time, or inclination, to swap them out.

So, at stumps on the last day of play, I'm almost ready for the peening process.

The "knob/bun" is a turning offcut that was sitting on the bench. I think the shape works - opinions welcome.
Sorry about the photo quality, I just used my 'not so high tech' phone before I left the shed last night.

Well that has certainly come along rather quickly,I’m not a certain about the front bun yet,but I have a feeling I’m not viewing the final result.[emoji6]

From looking at your dovetails, the fit looks really good,I can’t see any problems peening that together( I prefer the more common term “ Bashing”).
Are you sure you want to leave the shed, an leave us all hanging in the air waiting for the final encore.

    Cheers Matt.

Looks good. I like the idea of the front knob.

But how did you do the wedge? It looks like it has a brass inlay? Looks really interesting.

Thanks Ck, yeah it's a bit of 3mm brass set in. I thought it would add a bit of stiffness and much needed bling of course.

I'm back to the hot shed and although I think the 'final encore' is some way off, I have made some progress.
I've spent way too much time thinking about how to make the adjuster for this plane and came home with a couple of ideas in my head. After pulling everything out of where I put it before going away, and looking at it over a couple of cleansing ales, I completely changed my plan.
So here is the rear blade support/depth adjuster.

I'll rivet the assembly in when I do the peening. The M6 thread can be removed, if necessary, for replacement - just (I had to put a little divot in the bottom to allow the lock nut to turn).
The knob was a proceedure test during the challenge build - bonus!
I still need to find that moment when the lever cap design pops into my head.

    Picko,
First I think your plane is turning out rather nice,
I know I’m not meant to draw on other people stuff, but, will the adjuster just ride in that grove or is something else planned,
    .

    Cheers Matt.

Yeah that's the plan at this stage Matt. I can't see it being a problem but I've been wrong plenty of times before.

Are you sure you were wrong or just mistaken,

I reckon just mistaken, there’s a lot of that going around.

    Cheers Matt.

That's a master piece! Absolutely wundervoll!

I really like the shape. I might get some inspiration from that.

Only thing missing is proof that it cuts ;-)

Years ago I saw a dovetail style plane that won a comp in "AWR" and I thought "that bloke is bloody clever." Now I see how you and so many others, mainly in our comp, have made these planes I still think you are all bloody clever!

    Superb job.

    Picko,

That’d plane there looks fantastic, the metal work looks really good the dovetails are tight, the timber work looks really good.
    Love the little details

An it looks like it will snuggle down an fit in your hand quite comfortably.

How is it too use ? Will we see shavings or is that being rude?.

    Cheers Matt.
