The mouth opening is getting there,so really not much change or progress, to be honest.
Made a quick little gauge to check the bevel of the mouth is 45 degrees.
What i do need tho, does anyone have any good YouTube videos on carving scrolls in particular, or suggestions on reading material.
Ive watched a quite a few videos on Violin making, some i just watch too chill out actually, some are just a pleasure to watch.
Cheers Matt.

The small gauge is a cool idea. I might steel that [emoji6]
Great to see some progress.

Plane making may have just gone Digital,I just had a slight dimmer of a light bulb moment.
There quite rare for me.
Was working on my mouth [emoji851], for the plane,an using my soon to be patent pending gauge thingy, when I thought I’ve got a Wixey digital angle gauge, some stiff Hss tooling blanks.
If your bevel is not flat tho you won’t be able to get a true reading tho,my bevel was flat, but I’m still out a little bit,but I’m sure if I left it would still cut,tho 45 degrees surely will be better.
Cheers Matt.

Some small progress, tho a little frustrating chasing that last metric smidgigen getting the sides too come down on to the sole,is destroying my sole[emoji6],
Well with this kind of work it is always the last bit that takes the longest.
But we are getting there slowly.
Cheers Matt.

I'd forgotten about the proposed mortise and tenon construction. Very interesting I like.

Hi Matt.
Nice project.
How are you cutting and shaping the steel and brass?
Pete.

Umm, I'll have to think about that. I'm having trouble with 'her' and 'tooling' used in the same sentence, but I'm OK with bells.

Well i tried some modelling today,no not that type.
And too be fair it was Complete Catastrophic failure,i’m trying to get proportions of the squirrel tail right but I think I’ve completely mucked that one up !!! I think it needs to be just larger all over, so any helpful suggestions would be fantastic an I promise not to mention females, Mills,or tools in the same sentence as it may offend Picko.

I think the tail looks a bit too steep. But most important is how it feels in your hand?

Matt
I agree with CK but looks will improve depending on how you transition the stem into the bulb.
