Yes you can do all of that.
The limitations of the USB stick is that any new software you install (which is easy) or setting changes to Linux Mint (say desktop colour etc)
are not saved to the USB on exit because the USB has an ISO file.

I have also had Linux Mint really installed on a portable drive with USB connector that can be plugged in and run from any PC etc.
All changes etc are saved on exit. If interested, I can tell you how to do it.

I also have a desktop PC with no drives installed in the case. I have drive bays that are accessible from the PC front.
I change the drive before booting. I have a Windows drive and 2 or 3 Linux drives. Drives are cheap.

I use Ventoy for the installs because you can copy other ISO files to it and select which one to use.
I have several Linux versions (Distros) and Windows 10 and 11 ISO's on the same USB stick.

Thank you. I am rather under the gun at the moment but if I do get fed up with chrome I'll look into a bootable stick and give some distros a try.

So far apart from the spyware I'm fairly happy with chrome. The only problem is the application of it. Just figuring out how to do thing as some are well hidden.
