More Salvage
Picked up a little bit of Raintree log yesterday
15+ ton of it!
From 2 very large suburban trees
Lovely colour and form too
Old trees these ones so should mill up a treat
Happy days

Ran a chunk through the thicky today
Lovely dark stripes through it
Ended up with over 25m3 in the round
Chomping at the bit to mill it
Stay tuned

I'm sure this is a silly question, but what is the significance of the green crosses?

Hi Paul...I had to mark each log that I wanted as I scored them from the council tip
Yep...they were dumped
3 full tip trucks later they found a new home...my place
As they say...someone's trash is someone elses treasure!
Ended up with around 100 billets
Could be up to 30m3 in total
A wonderful score I reckon
Not exactly free...cost me $1000 for the backhoe and truck to load and cart
So around $33 a ton thereabouts
Cheaper than firewood!
No rot or defects in any of it...very healthy trees indeed
Happy chappy

How excellent that you salvaged such beautiful old timber
It's a crying shame that timber like this is thought of as rubbish...WELL DONE!

Great find and well worth the effort of getting them back to your place

Beautiful timber, Can't wait to see the final timber.
If only you were still down the road I'd drop by.
On the notion of log dogs, no chance of puppies soon?

An overview of the haul
Had to seal the log ends with paling paint to retard checking
Pick up my 20l containers of wax emulsion next week
