Mod for medium router-plane.
Bought a Veritas medium router plane a while back and love using it so much I grab it for the smallest of jobs . . . but found adjusting it in small steps to be a real PIA! Made this little replacement for the depth stop-collar out of some scrap brass and simplified the adjustment process quite nicely. I still set the stop-collar to the required depth of cut, but then loosen the blade and turn the adjuster screw down to raise the blade to where I want to make the first passes. The rest of the way is just a matter of backing the adjuster screw off by an amount suited to the depth of cut that works best for the timber in use, then dropping the blade until the screw touches the plane body again. Works a treat!

An excellent mod Vern, and nicely made. We used a router plane when cutting out the grooves for the treads in stair stringers.
