Matt
Sorry to hear you are feeling a little poorly, but hopefully the plane will drag you out of the doldrums:
Now I am about as useful on the subject of planes as a knife in a gun fight, but I may be able to help with the naming.
If that pane from the "Challenge" was called "The Body" I think a smaller version could be called "Twiggy."
Regards
Paul

Presenting… The Booty
I think Mr Brush may have hit something here; I therefore propose that the (as yet still embryonic) plane be henceforth referred to as “The Booty”; in a tongue-in-cheek homage to “The Body”.
Paul’s suggestion of “Twiggy” was worthy of consideration, however in this case I feel it works best when the slender lines of the plane plane are viewed from above. When seen from the side the big-arsed wedge/handle will draw the eye and dominate the view.
Oooh errrr….. Mattt’s note of “tools resembling their owners” coupled with Brad’s notion that the curvaceous nature of the plane would suggest it is destined to be owned by Sally… I hereby retract all references to the words “big” and “arsed” in the interests of self preservation and a keen desire to continue breathing unaided.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

Ok, time to get this thread back on track. Matt, am sorry if I offended with my comments, they were definitely meant as a lighthearted joke.
Matt, did you mention what timber you are going to use for the infill ?Brad.

Brad,
All good,no offence was taken,
I haven’t actually decided what Timber to use yet, I could use some of the Iron bark you sent me awhile back, or something else.
It’s a dilemma ,I’m thinking possibly either something very red,(Red gum) or possibly something very white Box wood, which basically means I haven’t got a clue [emoji849].
I’m still stuck in bed with my “Man Flue” tho something is going around town apparently, and I’m having brain fog or brain farts lol.
AnI still haven’t figured out, about using a Lever cap similar too the Norris style used on there Shoulder planes either.
And apparently the plane needs a name still ???
Cheers Matt.

Decisions??
Not much has been happening on the shoulder plane, mainly because I’ve still got my “Man Flu” thingy [emoji3062][emoji3062].
But I make some decisions too move it forward Brad sent me some pieces of Cooktown Iron wood a little while back, an I also come across this from out Fire wood pile it’s Red-gum but I think it might be special if cleaned up,
So the infill Timber, Cooktown iron wood or the Red gum. ???
Next big choice do I use a wedge too hold the blade in or a Lever cap,my heart wants too go the over complicated lever cap, but the wedge is such a simple solution ????
Cheers Matt.

Thank you too everyone who sent well wishes chocolate an vintage tools, while I was suffering with Man flu.
I’m on the mend, an decided too have a go at alternative CAD design, (Card added design) an I’m pleased too announce I’m hopeless at it, but it did give that brilliant light bulb moment of, I get it [emoji849]
So I now understand how the lever cap idea works in a shoulder plane, Brilliant Monti.
So I’m building a shoulder plane with a Lever cap because it seems the more difficult out of the main ideas of securing the blade.
Brilliant again Monti.
Cheers Matt.

We call that "glue stick engineering". Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes we have to go old school.
Looking forward and hanging on the edge of my seat.
