just bought one of these at a car boot sale (yard sale?) for a fiver.
Mines in much better condition than yours tho
pics to follow.
Mine came with a stanley XL330 "drive unit" (2 speed drill!)
I would be interested in any further information, if any comes to light.
The only thing I've discovered so far - looking at the wall chart - is that
to use as a ripsaw, the table is mounted over the drive unit like a table saw -
much safer than using like a radial arm saw (with the table below the blade arbour).
First job, I think, is to cast a mount for a router[1], I have a LOT of black and decker style
drill attachments for a lathe, saw, jigsaw, sander etc - but a radial arm router I
can see myself "needing" :.)
[1] Since I discovered lost foam and lost wax casting, there's no stopping me!

Big Egg,
You are quite right that the way the Selecta was used as a rip saw was with the table mounted above the blade arbor.
As to using the Selecta with a router, I used mine two different ways. the first was the normal attaching the router to the slide. I used the router clamping design from an American book on routing. Spielberg I think.
The other way was to use it as an overhead pin router. on my router table. I attached the Selecta to the router table and mounted the pin in the slide. It was a very successful method and one I used when routing some kitchen draw faces when no other method would do.Every person takes the limit of their own vision for the limits of the world.

Once again
If needed I can copy some more photos from my paperwork..I actually have 2 complete machines both bought for what it might now cost to post a letter, one is a little earlier and the later one has gib screws and refinements to improve work quality.. in the early '60s there were several work friends who bought them by mail order as the DIY period was just about starting ..There( were) several attachments obtainable to fit most proprietry hand drills of the period ielack and Decker ,Bridges and Wolf.. I have the Original Selecta 2 speed hand drill (built like the preverbial outhouse) this one is particularly valuable as many years ago a good Morgan 3 Wheeler was swapped for it those were the days . As I said they also did a powerful Block motor.. Any modern Electric drill could be used with the collar bracket and bushing ,although most drills today don't seem to have the spigot hole at the backend above the handle to centre up the tool ........Best Regards ,Alan.
