Indexable carbide end mills
G'day, has anyone had much to do with the indexable end mills using APMT1135 inserts that multiple Ebay sellers are selling?

I'm toying with the idea of giving them a go, probably in the 16 or 20mm size initially. How do they compare to conventional slot drills and end mills as far as finish, material removal rate and general performance? I'd assume that they are not center cutting like slot drills and most newer end mills, and I'd also guess that the negatives of having only 2 "flutes" compared to an end mill's 4, would be largely offset by being able to spin them substantially faster, (which of course will produce plenty of hot chips to fly down my shirt or lodge between by safety glasses and face :oo:).
No doubt a 4 flute solid carbide end mill probably outperforms them in every way, while also costing a large chunk of cash in the larger sizes, and the full life of the solid carbide is unlikely to be achieved due to not having the means to resharpen them at this stage, meaning the attractiveness of replaceable inserts is quite strong.
