I am looking at buying a digital inclinometer angle finder as often used to set the angle of a table saw blade and similar tasks. Are the cheap eBay models ok or should I be looking at a more expensive model? Recommendations welcome.
thanks
Peter

The cheap ones work for me, I used to use four of them to do wheel alignments and they were all damned close.
Make sure you buy ones with a backlight. Without them they are damn hard to read if the light is low,
I've bought, lost, dropped, about a dozen of these over the years.
The cheaper ones tend to chew batteries faster and don't like being dropped as much as the branded ones.
I've still got two Wixey's, a Tilt box and a couple of no name Chinese one somewhere that eat batteries.
The Tiltbox is probably the most rugged and gets taken Saw milling in the bush with me to level up Log rails for the chainsaw mill.
If you are only going to use to occasionally, like setting the odd saw blade tilt, and your mobile phone has a "flat back" then the Tiltmeter Apps are pretty accurate.
Thank Bob. I have installed Tiltmeter on my phone to see how it goes.
I would spring for at least a cheapie. I have an iGauging one that was pretty cheap, from memory. Being able to stick it to the blade, with the built in magnets, while you adjust the tilt is much easier than holding a phone against the blade.
You also have to have your phone out of it's case for it to work close to accurately.
Never had battery problems and only used the cheap ones, in fact I can't recall replacing any batteries and we used them a lot more than setting a blade. The version with the tilting face is the one I would buy.
Like everyone else I have killed a few they don't like concrete at 1.2M. I bought this one and so far it continues to do repeatable accurate angles.
Magnetic LCD Spirit Level Digital Angle Finder Gauge Protractor Inclinometer AUS on eBay,
sorry it won't copy the link in short form. When you scroll through you will see one that takes 2 AA batteries, I then changedt for rechargeable one to prevent leaks.

Crocy.
Hi Croc
is this the one: Magnetic LCD Spirit Level Digital Angle Finder Gauge Protractor Inclinometer AUS 753807585088 | eBay
The description does not say it has a backlight on the LCD display. Lappa’s recommendation of a backlight is something I had not thought of but is now on my list of reguirements.
Does yours have a backlight?
Maybe give this one a go. Seems to tick all the boxes.

Yes Pete, thats the one I have and I just checked, no backlight. I have not needed it, but I guess it could be a good feature. I have found the Hold button invaluable. Whichever one you get, just make sure you get one with AAA batteries, stuff those button cells.
