rhubarb
i saved a large old "crown" of rhubarb, lots of TLC, weeks before it grew leaves of decent size, then it went made and now a seed stem has shot up?:oo:
Can i still eat the stems because of the flowering:?
I have never seen a rhubarb flowering:o Not that i look for that:B.
Appreciate any insight, luv rhubarb with very little sweetening - the tarter the better ( who said that:no::D:rolleyes:) where has my youth gone.:weeping::tears::sad2:
Cheers

If the plant's still got new shoots coming, they should be ok for consumption. If not then the stalks will be as tough as old boots.

Thanks Huon, don't fancy tough tarty edibles :D.

Just cut off the flowering stem and keep pulling (and cooking) leaf stems as long as there are any.
I have heard of people putting custard on rhubarb but I find it does better with well rotted manure:).
