Cool hey. I went there yesterday. We should have linked up and could have shared a ride :(
One thing that everyone who has a Jointer/Thicknesser should look at is their metal detectors. I have the little yellow one and it has saved my blades on heaps of occasions. Costs about $40 but damn site cheaper than a replacement set of blades.
P.S. Dean, did ya see the big cyclone? Don't think it would fit under the house so I think I'll stick with my little one. I'd love some of the piping as well.
Indeed a very nice setup.
I just went to pick up some more pocket hole screws and wooden pocket hole plugs (until I make a small jig to cut my own plugs on the bandsaw or scroll saw that is).
I did see the cyclone... Big nasty beast of a thing!
I only noticed the big Wizard metal detector. Didnt see the small yellow one... but it is good hey? I've been thinking of getting one. Does it have limitation as to the depth of wood it can detect metal in?
Wayne,
what jointer/thicknesser do you have?
The Carbatec PT-260 - sells for around $1000 and everyone has a version of it (H/Forbes, Timbecon, etc.) Nice unit for the money and handles everything I want to do.
As for the detectors, from memory I think they go down about 2cm or so which is heaps when planning.
Ken,
You can find more info on the detectors at

The one I have is the Wall Wizard which is a multi-function one.

It detects Studs by finding the nails/screws (which the little wizard would do as well), Metal in wood (duh) and has a voltage probe (never used it though). Only reason I got this one was that Gregories was out of the Little Wizard at the time. Same price - same capacity so I did not care.
