Thought this might be of interest. There's not much camphor laurel left for the box comp so I'm trying to stretch every scrap as far as I can. Here's a little "jig" I made to saw some 1mm laminates from a piece of 8mm scrap. It's just a simple 1mm deep trench routered out of a scrap of melamine that the work sits in. The ripping is done with the ryoba saw sitting flat on the melamine surface and a piece of scrap timber pressing on the work to keep it flat in the bottom of the trench. With the thin kerf of the saw, I managed to get four 1mm laminates out of the scrap and after a quick sand it is ready for glueing.
Cheers
