I blame the Oz regulators for it. The NZ legal position is very clear. It's illegal to import and sell any saw without a brake and from what is on the net it is also illegal to sell a second hand saw without a brake.
I tried to get a definitive answer for Australia on the net. I couldn't find one. The relevant OZ standard isn't on line unless you pay and customs don't list chainsaws without brakes as prohibited items in their small on line list of prohibited imports.
If the things are illegal to sell - my guess is that they are, then why isn't it made blatantly clear to one and all, including the dorks who try and flog 070 fakes and the guy who has imported the powertek monsters. I half think that he could have done it naively given the lack of publicly available info on the net. Either way Ebay Australia is at major fault in accepting the listings.
I reported to ebay as well on two of the powertek listings but they are still up and selling.
