Trailer Components
Hei Guys,
I've read a few threads here where people are less than happy with trailer components.
I'm hoping to start building my trailer in 3 or 4 weeks, I'm new to Queensland so I don't know suppliers and everything has to be bought unseen and freighted because of where I am.
The trailer is going to be a single axle 8x6 flat top, 1.5 ton rated with brakes, twin safety chains and a spare tyre on the draw bar - this trailer will see mainly country roads.
Anyone willing to share experiences about component suppliers, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Feel free to PM if you'd rather not speak publicly.
Cheers
Paul

The importers of the two biggest manufacturers in the trailer brake industry are Melbourne Trailer & Caravan Supplies and Al-Ko International. I've worked for both and have no hesitation in recommending either of their products. MTCS are only in Melbourne, but ring them and see if they have a stockist they supply closer to you. Al-Ko have a branch in Brisbane. Both of them manufacture axles and hubs here in Australia.
From there, there aren't too many others that aren't just re-sellers of the same products, or importers of cheap rubbish.

In brisbane there are several players, and who you go to depends on what you want.
I think the local alco office is down logan way.
Active fabrications at Beenleigh are very competitive and well regarded.
I mostly use All trailer spares at Salisbury, I find them mostly OK, but nothing startling....
QLD Vehicle components over at Gebung is the local upmarket supplier of fancy suspension.
Brisbane axles at Tingalpa, actually make axles and have some sort of general trailer supply as well although I have never used them.
Most of the fabricators will sell you parts, some of them are competitive and have quality bits others don't.
hope this helps.
