There is quite a lot of feeling in this piece. To me he looks a little tired.
Did you intend to make him that way?
-
Nice Schaff.
Looks like someone I know. Really!

Awesome! He looks real! Fantastic piece!.....straight out of a fantasy movie! :welldone:

Wonderfully done Schaff, that maple comes up well
-
Great stuff, well done, I love him.:U:U

That is a gallery-grade piece.
I am in awe of the finishing of the carving and the quality of the finished surface.

Thanks guys for your comments.
Christos ,That is just the way it turned out. I have got to take what I get when I carve.

Hi Schaf, I saw this on Ian Norbury's site and loved it, your version has a sadder expression but it works
great, very real, well done. I've never downloaded any of his tutorials, what did you think of them?

Thanks Robthechisel, I think all of Norbury's instruction methods are great.
I have three of his books maybe 4 and they are well explained with lots of photo's and drawings.
This new method of downloading lessons is exceptional. At 1 english pound per lesson they are affordable
and you can download each lesson in your own good time.If 1 lesson is about something you are already confident
with, then you can skip that one and wait for the next one to be produced.
I only downloaded the 1st five of the 15 lessons because I wanted to see how Norbury set out his face and where or how he took his measurments
Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
Below are 2 carvings I have done from Norbury books.

I like the jester!! something a little out of the ordinary about him.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:
Other two also look fine.:):):)

Thanks Terry, They sound like great value at one pound per lesson for a novice carver
like me, he just has the knack of making his carvings look so real and with great expression.
Those other two carvings you did of his are a good example of that. Great work, I've been in a bit
of a carving lull at the moment but you've fired me up again.
Thanks
