Clipper, City of Adelaide
There is now some more dramatic progress with the preparation required to move the clipper City of Adelaide now that the Dutch salvers Hebo Maritime Services have been contracted to jack up the ship and move it on to a barge for transport to the port for its eventual transfer to Adelaide. City of Adelaide on the move
On the wireless this morning was an interview with a reporter in the UK who said that the removalists have cradled & shifted CoA.
Has been moved further from the water so that the hole they dug to insert the cradle & heavy lift tractors can be filled in & levelled.
Should be moved down to the water & onto a barge in the next 24 hrs or so. That's the theory, anyway.
City of Adelaide "afloat" at last
The City of Adelaide has been loaded onto a barge and has passed through the opening bridge across the Irvine River. The tug Dutch Pioneer will take the barge to England within a few days where the City of Adelaide will be displayed close to the Cutty Sark for a period before the clipper is shipped to SA.
Irvine Bridge Traversed - 9 September 2013
News Alert - Irvine Departure - 16 or 17 September 2013
Although, all is not won quite yet, as the Sunderland group are still trying to stop the ship's transfer to SA:

Clipper, City of Adelaide significance
Hello all,
Good to see that the ship is creating some discussion, anyway! But maybe the significance of the ship to SA needs to be kept in mind, here is a quote from the web site of the Save the City of Adelaide organisation:
"For 23 years the City of Adelaide brought large numbers of British and German migrants to the fledgling colony of South Australia. It is calculated that today approximately a quarter of a million South Australians, or one in five, can trace an ancestor that migrated, or was a passenger, on the City of Adelaide."
So, the ship travelled to SA more than a few times. It was actually built in Sunderland in England but had been in Scotland for many years until just a few days ago.
This ship is significant historically in world terms but it is particularly significant to South Australia, there'll always be differences of opinion on issues like this but rather than worry about the tax payer in Australia maybe we should be thankful to the Scottish tax payers because Scotland has contributed to this project apparently.
