While sorting out my old scappy clothes for workshop use, it occurred to me to look for some alternatives. I have an old set of coveralls for really messy jobs, but I'm in the workshop daily and cant get washing done that fast.
So, what does everyone wear in their workshop? What clothes, safety gear, footwear, etc?
Kingee shorts, shirt (Bissley blue) sock savers, steel cap boots and earmuffs, and also wear a regulation big grin for doing what I like
Summer uniform: Shorts, Cargo,, T shirt, SS Turning Smock for turning or LS King Gee Workshirt for Flat stuff, Mongrel Steel Caps, Clear Glasses.
Winter Uniform: Trousers, Heavy Duty, T Shirt, LS Turning Smock or LS King Gee Workshirt for Flat stuff, Mongrel Steel Caps, Clear Glasses.
Not much variation, always get "reminded" to dust oneself off before entering the domicile :roll:
Shirt and shorts for summer, trackies And shirt with shoes for winter. I am getting old and my feet now need something to keep them warm.
Standard wear is Shorts and T-shirts
Overalls or Bib and brace when it's colder - e.g. May through Sept.
Overalls and leather gloves and sometimes apron for grinding, welding and forging
Standard footwear is steel caps although sometimes if I'm rearranging screwdrivers or just fixing or servicing stuff I might wear thongs.
Full face armadillo mask when using most machinery and Muffs for noisy machines
Chainsaw work is steel caps, chaps, earmuffs and earplugs, full face shield and gloves.
None of you will ever match String Emil's workwear elegance...

I always wear elastic sided work boots - not steel toes. When I say always, I mean all day, every day - I have 3 pair at the moment. I like Redbacks, but I have a pair of Rivers atm that I find very comfy. I choose the best of them for more formal occaisions such as weddings, funerals, lunch at the pub etc.
Jeans from the op shop. Only a few dollars each. :D Or second hand work shirts from the same place. The overalls over everything mainly in winter.
