Sounds very much like your computer has been infected with malaware, nasty pop up ads.
Try using a free Anti-Malware type removal program.
I use and trust Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
No affiliation just a contented user...:)
I use Firefox & the Adblock plug in, it works a treat.
Malware antibytes from https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/
Spybot search and destroy (old version 1.6.2) from Mirror Selection Spybot 1.6 | Spybot
and run a virus checker (I use AVG).
These are all free use and download.
I always get people to run CCleaner first (didn't put it here but it cleans up left over files that are not worth checking).
then AVG, then malware and then spy bot.
Once a week should keep you reasonably safe.
Thanks for all the tips fellas, I use Google Chrome for browsing.
I just looked at Malaware, and it looks like it's not free. Reading through blurb, it suggest downloading an upgraded version to block malware. It does not suggest it finds and deletes a problem should it find one.
Any other suggestions on how to eliminate malware.
Ken
Malwarebytes has a free version.
Sprybot Search & Destroy has a free version.
There is a version of Adblock for chrome.

If that link doesn't work, try this one.
Adblock Plus - Surf the web without annoying ads!
Gentlemen, I have just buggered up my new computer, damn.
I installed and ran Spybot and Malaware bytes, it identified and deleted the offending files, all seemed well.
When I rebooted my computer, it wouldn't fire up.
The first dialogue box stated:-
The program or feature "\??\C:\Windows\system 32\LogonUI.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64 bit versions of Windows.
Please contact the vendor to ask if a 64 bit Windows version is available
2nd dialogue box:-
Interactive logon process initialization has failed
Please consult the event log for more details
I have two operating systems on my computer, Windows 7 and XP. I have XP to run an old version of Autocad R14.
XP fired up ok so I navigated to the other section where 7 operates from and deleted Spybot and Malaware bytes.
Didn't make any difference.
I'm typing this post on my son's computer, mine is tin fruited, help, any clues?
Ken
With regards to my problem above, would reinstalling Windows 7 solve my problem?
If yes, how do I do it with out loosing anything. How do I do a Windows repair?
I have the original disk.
Ken
Assuming you have the install CD for Windows 7 -
Repair Windows 7 Using the Startup Repair Tool
If you don't have the install DVD, you can download an official iso of the disc from the locations given here. Make sure you download the correct version - 32 or 64 bit, home, professional or ultimate. Then you can either burn the iso to disk or create a bootable thumb drive (needs just over 4 gig). Then follow the steps in the link above.
I have the disk but the computer still boots from the hard drive.
I can't get into the computer to change the boot sequence.
All I can do is get into safe mode etc
Ken
Fly, we have met before several years ago when you spent a day with me cleaning up an old slow computer.
Are still still repairing computers and are you willing to help me with the above problem?
Ken
If the only reason for XP is R14, download Draftsight free version. Runs under Windows 7 and is identical in commands and uses a lot less computer resources.
I changed from autocad when I got W7 and has not missed a beat. DWG is the default file and opens any autocad file.
There are a few very subtle differences in but after about 2 hours they are second nature
Hi Ken,
Yes I remember.
If you want I can re-install the win 7 and not lose data for you.
The only issue is how long it takes, its not a quick job.
I have one friend who thinks I flick a switch and it works again, I keep asking him where these magic switches are?
You may need to drop it off for the weekend.
I could come there but then you have me sitting there for most of a day if all goes well.
Have you still got my number so we can arrange a day and time.
I could meet you half way somewhere for pickup and drop off.
Peter
