Triton Router Availability Australia & New Zealand
This is going to be my very first post to the Woodwork Forums, and when I registered I did not know that a Triton sub forum existed. It happens to be of great interest to me as I have had a TRA001 on back order since November last year. I'm in New Zealand, and our Triton router dealer is Carbatec who list the TRA001b (I don't know what the 'b' signifies) for NZ$629 (AU$580). Carbatec tell me that they would order 500 if they could get them. Most UK Triton dealers (the UK is 240V) also say no stock, and I am reluctant to trust the one or two that say they do have stock.
We have a TRA001 at the Blenheim Menz Shed, and we had a MOF001 in a Kreg table donated to us which we donated on to a new Shed being formed in Cromwell, Central Otago. They seem like a total no brainer for table mounting, with them not needing a lift, and TRA001 has plenty of power. I love using them, and have set my heart on one. Plus I don't particularly want to pay for a lift and suitable router or spindle motor.
So I'm wondering what the heck is going on with 230-240 volt Triton routers? Do you guys know of specific problems? Do they tool up for batch production for instance? Are they relocating? There does not seem to be a problem with 110V versions.
