Dust collection system design - need advice

I've just recently purchased a new dust extractor - a Sherwood 2HP Cyclone Dust Extractor and I'm in the process of designing my hard-piped system.

The question is do I run 100mm everywhere (cheap, readily available) or keep it in 125mm until I get to the tool?

125mm piping is definitely not as common and the best option I can find is steel range hood ducting which is about 10x the cost of 100mm PVC when you consider the cost of elbows and fittings and the steel fittings are definitely harder to install.

Obviously I'd prefer 100mm but I don't want to do that and regret the decision!

Not being rude mate, but get a coffee and settle in for some research on the sticks in this section. Every answer you need is there.

Forget your 100 & 125 optimum effectiveness pipe is 150 there is enough information to prove this beyond shadow of doubt.
All your big machines can be converted to 150 openings.
Yes it may be more expensive first start up but over time 150 will prove its effectiveness again and again.

2 HP is not a big system. It will be necessary to reduce your air flow losses to an absolute minimum. This means running 150 mm pipes to the machines and, wherever possible, converting the machine outlet/port/hood to 150 mm. The only machine I have not converted to 150 mm is my jointer/thicknesser, because I can't figure out how to get more air INTO and THROUGH the machine.
