Another box. There should be a twelve-step program. This one measures 318 mm x 171 mm x 102 mm. Hand cut dovetails. Brusso hinges. Gaboon ebony lift. Faux suede interior. Finish is oil and wax.
This one gave me some problems with the hinges. Knowing the timber was hard and heavy, I took special care to drill the screw holes oversize and ran a steel screw down them lubricated with a little bees wax. First brass screw I tried to drive snapped off. :o I had to drill small holes around it to extract it. To repair that disaster, I drilled a 6 mm hole where the original had been and glued a piece of dowel in place. Then I decided to drill all the screw holes oversize and insert dowels. The dowels are made from birch and therefore present no problems when driving the soft screws. I think this may become a standard procedure when dealing with the harder exotics.
Hope you all like the box.
