On a related theme, several months ago I advertised my son's Playstation for sale on eBay with a "Buy it" feature. In spite of the fact that I made it clear that it was only to sale in Australia (partly owing to shipping costs, but mostly that not all other countries use the PAL system we have), a "lady" in Nigeria decided to "buy it" for her "beloved husband who works so hard". This person requested my bank details to deposit the money directly into my account. Needless to say I refused to do so. While I doubt that they could access my account to withdraw funds, there was a chance that (a) this was just a prank on someone's part, (b) that they will cancell the funds at some point, or (c) overpay and ask that you send them a refund, with their money coming from a fraudulent source (this is the usual strategy). Mostly it was a big frustration since I lost the opportunity to sell to someone above-board as the auction was ended prematurely.
