tutorial for the single piece twist pen - NEW TUTORIAL
hi guys
this is how i made the twist pen with a single piece of timber.
firstly find a 7mm long series drill bit , cut the blank the length of the 2 tubes as well as the centre band
i find because of the length of drill bit and blank i drill on the lathe , then glue ONLY ONE TUBE into one end using 5 min araldite and let dry :!
then true up both ends of the blank , mount the blank on the mandrel using the other brass tube on the unglued end , turn and finish as you like then as you are taking the blank off the mandrel when you get close to the end of the mandrel turn blank on slight angle that catches the loose tube and it makes it so easy to get out :!
now get the nib and the tube and assemble then assemble the mechanism into the other end of bottom tube CHECKING CAREFULLY WHEN YOU GET CLOSE because its not glued into anything so if pushed to far:no: using a disassembler may damage the tube
then assemble the end cap and clip onto end of blank that has the tube glued
then assemble and its right to use twisting from the nib to bringing the refill out to use and to replace the refill grab the nib and the blank and seperate it takes a bit of muscle as you only got the nib to hold on to
hope thats explains it enough
