raised panel bit
I did a bit of a search, but was unable to find what I was looking for. I was hoping that someone would be able to tell me to if a 2hp router would be able to run a full sized panel raising bit? I have access to a said router. If taken in small cuts, 2 to 3mm at a time would be alright?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

The short answer is yes!
A 2 hp router will drive a panel raising bit.... BUT......don't attempt it freehand, you need to have it mounted in a router table and give it a slow feed with no more than 1.5mm at a time depending on how hard the timber is
When I cut panels on my router table I would run maybe 4 or 5 passes depending on how hard the timber is and how well the timber is cutting
Remember SAFETY FIRST and how ever the number of fingers you start the operation with its good practice to finish with the same number :U

:whs:
And turn the speed down!!

Yes and no.
eg: A 2 HP Ryobi ( or GMC or Trade Tools etc, etc ) will not have the torque required unlike a 2hp Triton or Makita
Panel raising bits were never designed to be run in handheld applications.
Vertical panel raising bits can be run a lot more easily at higher speeds than horizontal bits.
Horizontal bits need very slow speeds for a router or conversely a spindle moulders top speed ( circa 13,000 rpm max)

Thanks for the replies lads. :2tsup: It was always my intent to use it in a table with fence. The router is one of the variable speed trade tools router.
