Create an album, upload images to it. Then click on one of the images, and copy & paste the "BB code" (you'll see it) into the post wherever you want it. This is best done with two windows open - one for the album, and one for the post.
User CP / Edit Options / Thread Display Options / Visible Post elements.
Bewdy Bryan, that did the trick! :2tsup:
Took me a long time to find that. Life is much better with pictures.
Seems like it should default to on. :?
I just recently found out, you don’t get to see the pictures unless you are a member here and logged in. Well at least that’s what I think happens.
I kept sending Marko links to pictures of the scraping class. He claims he couldn’t see them. I had to sign him up the other day.
Edit. I just checked it by logging out. When I’m logged out I only see links were I’d normally see a thumbnail, and clicking on that doesn’t take you far.
Something to keep in mind if you send links to friends and family.
Phil.
Phil, that's correct and most other forums are the same, you have to be a registered member to see pics.
I was a member for some time without seeing pics. I had to explicitly turn them on, as above.
Around 1 1 1/2 years ago it seemed to change. I used to link posts here with photos and then around the time above people started saying they couldn't;t see the photos as you had to be a member.

Hmm at first I can't see any real reason to restrict images to members, but on second thought it would prevent a lot of image abuse and harvesting images, there are a lot of arseholes who pirate forum contents, file off the serial numbers and reuse the content to attract visitors to their site. Having the default image viewing turned off would reduce site bandwidth a meaningful amount too.
AH, you know that forum owner as well, one strange biscuit in the packet he is.
I think allowing pictures is good as you can give links, and then when they come here they like what they see and join in. Which ever way I still think it's a great forum and maybe we don't need to many more members as we have a top group here already, and we have knowledgeable people in many fields.
I have said it before, this forum is like no other I know of with the friendliness and generosity of all the members.

I’d never really thought about it. I do a bit on Practical Machinist, and a limited bit on Home Shop Machinist.
I don’t believe I’ve ever tested that to anyone else that wasn’t a member of those forums. But I do understand the policy. (I’ve had discussions with posters here recently, that some pictures are fine to post, but wouldn’t be welcome else where).
Its only been recently, with blokes like Marko, that I found it an issue. I kept sending him links, which he couldn’t see.
And I’m kicking myself that I didn’t know that. I sent my dear old mum, a link to the first class, and one brother. They have better manners than me, they never let me know they couldn’t see the pictures.
Regards Phil..
One advantage of having the images turned off is that the original poster of the images can see how many times the image has been viewed, some of my images are up pretty high which is interesting.
I'd forgotten you could turn them on and off once you were logged in. Will be handy when I am on my phone.
Thanks Bryan.
