Old Durden Pacemaker combo saw-planer
Scored today, ( Sunday,24th.June,2012 ). It was heading for Scrap,- but got a repreive, into my shed for the time being. It has the name, "Pacemaker, ' in large letters on one side, and in smaller letters underneath, " Made by Durden Machery Co, Glynde, S.A. " and is a combo saw, & planer, with the electric motor positioned outside the heavy steel stand. The brand name on the electric motor reads, " Crompton Electric Motor Co. " If that's any help to anyone.
Still has the original rubber-coated wiring, & the old Bakelite plug.
It weights heaps,- took three of us to lift onto my trailer,- then three of us again to lift it off my trailer, and into the shed !!!
Don't have any photos as my camera is playing up !!
** Am thinking of putting the old Durden up for sale, when I find out a bit more info about it, plus its estimated value other than simply scrap value. Would like to see it go to a Collector, or Restorer other than simply to a scrap metal yard.
Also scored is a, " Sherline made in Australia, " Woodworking Lathe,-
- Aluminum Frame, & table, bolted onto a piece of heavy, " C" ,section galv steel. Has three varying diameter pulleys with it, plus separate electric motor,- can anyone shed any light on this too, as to age, value, ( if any ), etc.
Roger.
