hello, I am trying to make some picture frame profiles on a router table. Does anyone know of any books, articles or links to sites that show a range of different profiles and how to make them?

Hi Jill,
The way I have approached this is as follows.
Either pick out a ready made frame design you like or think of a design of your own, then have a look at the Carbitool catalogue. Each of the cutter descriptions shows you the profile it cuts, so you can match the cutter to the profile you want. Remember that you can use multiple cutters to give the result you want. The pic below uses a bevel cutter, an architrave moulding cutter and a 12.5mm straight cutter to achieve the overall profile.
BTW, the mitre was cut on a Makita LS1214 with a 60 tooth blade.:)
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob
I have a catalogue from a company here in OZ.
Used to get my framing materials from them but have a brainfart just now :D
Can't for the life of me remember their name.
Will go out in the shed tomorrow and find it.
Cheers

Jill,
I purchased a book called "How To Make Picture Frames" published by Fox Chapel Publishing here in the US. It describes everything you want to know about this subject including profiles and which bits to use. If it is available over there, it is very worth while.
Bob
It is available here, I used to have it.

Thanks for the book details Bob, I will chase it up.
Thanks for the link to the profile library, wolffie, there are some really good ones in there that would not be too hard to make
My pleasure
