Thanks to the generosity of another Forumite, I have managed to complete a small set of common sizes (1/4 to 1") of tanged Titan firmers.
It started inocently enough - I acquired two rather sad-looking Titans, a 1/2" and a 1", with my father's tools. However after some elbow-grease (well, a lot to be truthful!), and a new handle, both looked reasonably respectable, so I put them aside 'til I decided what to do with them for the long haul. Then I came across this rather ill-treated specimen, and rescued it. I now had 3 tanged Titans, I wasn't sure quite what to do with. I had already started putting together a set of socket Titan firmers for my own use, & these didn't really fit with my grand plan.
So what's that saying about 3 of anything being the start of a collection? The 3 Titans were just crying out for some more friends, & after a year or so of fossicking & trading, here they are - not a "collector's" set, as they are a mixture of stamps, so of different batches, but all excellent users. They will go with the Berg BE chisels of my father's, to whichever one of his 27 grand-children shows the aptitude & desire to use & appreciate them.
Cheers,
