:sigh:
Just checked the piggy bank but I'm still a few quid short :toobad:
As I feared...... 100K wouldn't have come close to getting the toys I liked....... the Rose engine brought $ 190,000. and the ivory chisels did a nice $ 36,000......... it was fun to watch and I knew all along I wasn't even get in a bid. I am so glad I have what I have. As for the books, and this was the largest collection of lathe books probably ever offered, it was Warren Ogden's library.... they went reasonable and I had most of the ones I had any interest in so I behaved there too....... now for Ted's watches, the estimates were very low for the most part.... anyone who knew watches knew that, I chased a couple of them but once again struck out. I remember playing with a tray of his good watches, I even worked on a few of them, I knew they were good.... now I know that tray was about $ 450 K good.... and for the buyers you add 20% plus tax to all these numbers. Just goes to show buy good stuff......... wonder who got the rose engine and chisels (same bidder I think)????????
From this thread:
I wish I had an extra 100K for this lathe!
Paul thanks for the update lets hope all have gone to good homes and will get the respect and love they deserve.
Now really if the fellow wants to be my benifactor and ship the whole lot here I'll promise to care, love and devote my time in making sure it all works every bit of it :D
