Triton Router - Access to Collet above Table
Members,
I recently purchased my first router table. It came with a Triton TRA001 router. Finally getting a chance to use this equipment and am loving the versatility and control
the fixed router provides.
Now its time for fine tuning it's use and the first problem to resolve is -
I cannot access the collet above the table for bit changes with the single spanner because the cam will not make sufficient depth into the base plate to activate the spindle lock.
It seems to stop just short, although there is signs of wear on the base plate suggesting that it did once.
Is there some form of adjustment I can perform so that I can enjoy this feature.
I have a plan to install an Incra insert plate that came with the unit, in the near future, however a dry fit with the plate (router now removed from table) does not give me the access I believe should be available.
Same situation exists when router was installed under the table so the problem must be with the router.
I am new to the Forum and enjoying my woodwork even more now I can access the advice of more experienced members who are willing to share.
Looking forward to your assistance.
Thanks

Triton Router - Access to Collet above Table
Just back from Bunnings with a little timber to play with - on the router!!
Thanks for your responses and the good advice.
I imagine most table-fixed routers connect the lead to an external switch for simple power control. I know I do.
Never thought that leaving the router switch turned to "on" and controlling power at the external switch would have any impact.
So chalk another safety feature up to Triton, as I turn "off" the switch on the router and find that the cam now travels all the way, leaving the collet nicely protruding a good distance above the base plate.
A hearty thanks to all as I can now continue on my journey to the next stage.
