I guess there is many of you who would agree that the time in the shed is well spent.

That's fair enough. Women have the laundry and ironing room we have sheds. :U
Peter.
Escape? what escape. SWMBO has her own bench in the shed (note how I did not call it "my" shed) But there are benefits. She has her own cordless Dremel with lots of idly-biddy carbide and diamond bits, and various other accessories which I can use. She also has a diamond rock and glass cutting wheel, but I am not too happy about the grit and dust that she generates and does not clean up.
The only relationship I have is with my shed :)
I don't go out there to escape my wife and kids. I'm out there because I'm passionate about sawdust and i have always been a tinker whether it be with bikes or computers when I was a kid. I've just grown to have a relationship with both my wife and my tools
Saves what relationship my shed is jealous I spend more time with the wife than I do out in the shed
well some one had to say it, it might as well be me because come on guys/gals it true aint it
Regards Michael
It seems fair.
What? Only 24 days. Lucky there`s only me & the dog.And that`s fine by me as the woofer periodically checks to make sure i`m actually doing something constructive.
When I'm working away in the shed my better half usually gets in a fantastic mood. I go all hunter gatherer and she makes the nest by doing a huge cook up (she is a chef) She loves all the bits and pieces I make for the house (if only she knew we could have bought a new house from all the $$$ spent in the shed!!!) I definitely have my shed for me and my other half supports me 100% but its never to escape her. I enjoy when she comes in for a chat and a cuppa while I'm tinkering in the shed:U
Only 24 days a year? That seems low? Her indoors loves it when I go in the shed, it means I'm making something for us or her side of the family, mine are in Perth.
I'm not sure what my wife will think of the time I spend in my shed if and/or when she actually moves down here as we always planned originally. I miss her every day and can't wait for the time we're together again. She wants to keep working, for however long I know not or why.
I did tell her that she'd need to get herself a hobby to keep herself occupied. She even got me to buy her a pyography kit at the last Wood Working Show she ever attended with me many years ago. That kit has never been taken out of its wrapping. I even bought her a book to help with it.
From the very start of my shed's renovation, I've always based it around her being able to be there with me. I specially built places in the sun and out of the wind for her in winter. Anything I could do so she didn't feel left out while I was working away. That way we could talk and she could read, do X-words or knit, all so we weren't living separate lives in the same home.
Ok, I'm now putting my mind into a bad place talking about all this. The big D is looking for me again.:;
Sorry,
Bob
Heartily agree with this. That's why I'm building a garage/shed that will give me 3 cars worth of space for a shed, for all my benches, tools, and timber. I'm also planning on putting in a room above the actual car spaces in the garage as a mezzanine office - to give me somewhere to retreat to when I want to watch sport on tv and the rest of the family doesn't. It will be 6m x 3.5m and will have a large TV, internet access and a large comfortable old worn out couch (just the way I like it). And a fridge. :)
And I think swmbo is looking forward to me having that space as much as I am...
