Engineered straight edge

Just curious what you guys use for an engineered straight edge?

I am trying to set up my new to me Robland planer / jointer, and it appears the feed in and feed out tables are not quite co-planar to each other...because my wood when planed becomes ever so slightly convex on the bottom rather than straight.

I am tipping one of the tables are high at the feed in end or feed out end, and want to run a straight edge along them to adjust one or the other ends up or down .

Being tables that fold out the way for thicknessing - it's likely going to be a fiddly process I realize.

Just curious what I can use as an accurate straight edge to be sure i get it right...

My aluminium Stanley level is too old and not really long enough to be as accurate as I need.

I really need something close on 2 meters long and milled straight as a die.

Anyone?

I use one of these, SYDNEY TOOLS - Duroline AMI 2700mm Straight Edge - Standard

Checked with a straight scribed line made with my Veritas straight edge it came up straight.

Check across the table left side right side along the length as well.

The other cause can be when the blades or Shelix cutters are set to high on the out feed table or vice a versa the out feed table is lower the the blades or cutters.

I have the veritas straight edge, both the steel and the Ally. The are reasonably priced compared to what's asked by Australian engineering stores . . . if they have even heard of them. Box Straight Edges for concreting are available or if you have a steel merchant close, you could go there and ask, some may help you or some require customer service training.

Sorry, but my previous message gave the wrong link for the Robland.

please try "Charlie B's All text menu" it is easy to find using Google and it
includes detailed instructions on blade/table adjustments for the Robland X31 as
well as pictures he took on a visit to the Robland factory. The pics show the Robland
technicians setting up tables etc.

This web site is also interesting for the other content on woodworking as well.

Hope you find it as I am sure it is very relevant to what you are doing. I had an old Robland
planer thicknesser until last year when I replaced it with a new Hammer A31.

I bought a alloy spirit level as my straight edge & got the planer tables all set co planar.

Also found Charlies site for the destructions.

Even started my own facebook page for X31 owners with all the links etc to Charlies site.
