while waiting for the final measurments...
I decided to train with the model of capitals i'll have to carve for a church organ furniture.
The model was taken on a wood panel in a church. Mine has the same size, 12cm wide, but the commissioned ones will be about 25-30cm. I only carved a face plus an angle. It's made of birchwood, not very dry.
The moulding on the top (the "tailloir") is a separated piece to let you carve easily the volutes (and was done bad and fast :B).
This time spent was not a waste, I bet it will help for the big ones.
Thinking of finishint it half and cut the waste. Put it on a piece of column, it will look finished. :D
