Can anyone put a price on 10,000 - 14 year old African Mahogany trees? Also wondering what the average profit margin would be after milling and drying? Cheers

Khaya senegalensis is a fast growing species (have seen 1000mm wide trees at 20 years),that can be problematic to mill.Large sap margins, huge internal stresses and unreliable seasoning make this tree a challenge at the best of times.Better quality trees are the ones that are left to mature for many more years...14 years is simply too young for harvest,in my opinion. If the trees aren't going to produce quality timber, they are worth nothing! Let them mature for another 20 or so years, then ask the question.I have milled both Nyasica and Senegalensis in the past, the former was around 40 years old and the other 20.The timber from the older tree was far superior in density and colour....MM:2tsup:
Incidently,is this plantation near Cooktown,Qld,or the Northern Territory somewhere?...MM:2tsup:
