I'm after a doweling jig and came across what appears to be a fairly easy to use, accurate jig by JessEm (8350). It only comes in imperial though.
Would there be any major disadvantages of purchasing an imperial jig while still working the stock in metric? Besides the extra fuss and increased potential for confusion I cannot think of any reason.

Shouldn't be an issue......as long as you use imperial drill bits and dowels.
in fact I use both measurements in my woodworking and regularly fall back to imperial. I grew up learning imperial at school so it's not foreign to me. The only time I use mm is if I have to use precise measurements.....not normally in my woodworking but always when I'm doing aluminium fabrication after designing in cad....

If you purchased the 8350 I would be very interested to hear your review and to find out where you purchased it.
Do you have a ready supply of Imperial dowels? The numbers may look similar, but the are not the same.. Over time, the gap will affect the stability of the joint.

I ended up purchasing the jig but it was around the time we moved house. I've not yet set up the workshop so have not had time to use it yet. No shortage of projects just have not had the time recently. I'll make sure to place some feedback when I get around to using it. I'm so far impressed with the quality, the whole jib is well made and bigger and heavier than I was expecting.
With regards the dowels I'll be making my own with a LN dowel plate.
