Box maker Eugene Zacharewicz
Does anyone know Mr Zacharewicz, formally of Queanbeyan?
I saw one of his boxes at the Bungendore Wood Works a while back and I've just read an old article on him in AWR 37 (Dec 2002)
Well, blow my hair back. These would have to be the most amazing pieces of work I've ever seen in my life. It mentioned in the article that people find his work "unapproachable".... Well yes, for these exquisite, magnificent, boxes are clearly destined to used in and on the most worthy and majestic occasions. The tables of prime ministers, presidents and the queen would be barely worthy.
The detail is beyond belief. One called "aspects of the desert" was so crammed with microscopic detail it is hard to believe a human being could make it. As a common peasant I would feel unworthy to even touch one.
Does anyone know if he is a member of the board, or still makes or anything about him?
It would be amazing to go see him if he's still with us....and practicing.
