WBS 20L query (carbatec, amac, etc)-blade binding during resaws

Hi all,

Ive been trying to restore the above to good working order; nearly there, but there are some ongoing niggles, and i have no manual to work from. If any members have a copy they could email, i would dearly love one..cant find one ANYWHERE.

So, brand new 3/4" blade, 4tpi, carbon steel. 3hp motor should be able to cope with 13-14" rimu resaw, but keeps binding badly. LOTS of heat generated on pulleys and belts. brand new belts. Drive belt from motor to tension pulley continues to spin during blade binds; secondary belt from tension pulley to band saw wheel is slipping badly, not moving at all (a B31 v belt). Ive checked and rechecked blade is square, blade tension is stable and very high, pulley alignment,etc, which are all good. Belt tension has been a problem, particularly on this secondary B31 belt, and i had to go buy a longer bolt to use maximum adjustment on tension pulley, to try to increase tension.

Makes me think that B31 belt is the wrong size (was a staight replacement for what was in there already). Can anyone advise what correct belt sizes for this machine are, or what else could be going wrong here?

No, but this looks like an updated version of exactly the same saw. Mine unfortunately has a needlessly more complicated drivetrain than this. My motor is connected to a tension pulley, (by a B21 or B25 belt i think-cant remember-but this belt is non-problematic). This tension pulley's position can be adjusted by screwing in a lateral bolt, whilst loosening the nut which connects the tensioning pulley to the bandsaw cabinet. This lateral bolt moves the pulley upwards and away from both the motor and the bandsaw wheel. The tension pulley is then connected by a separate belt (the problematic B31 one) to the bandsaw wheel. In my set up, i had to go and buy a longer lateral bolt to try to move the tensioning pulley further away from both the motor and bandsaw wheel, to increase both belts tensions...but there is a LOT of heat now, and a LOT of resistance to moving the blade.

This manual is still like gold dust to me though, for the other parts, so thankyou for that! Any other ideas/views welcomed. I stripped the thread of the bolt which secures the tension pulley to the bandsaw cabinet today, trying to fix this thing, and now have to wait til monday to order replacement part, which will take ANOTHER week to be delivered:ranting2::ranting2::((

I still think this is the same as carbatec model, sold around 2008 (mine has no manufacturer/reseller details anywhere on machine), so, if anyone can confirm and supply more information then muh appreciated!
