A present for my wife.
Hi guys,
I am a fairly new wood worker and love experimenting on the lathe. I've been making a few bits ad bobs but I keep giving them away to friend family etc and I realised last night that I haven't kept a thing for myself or my wife. So i'm wondering if with all the knowledge out there you guys may have some ideas for a nice little present I can knock up for her?
Thanks In advance!

Is it a turning project you would like to complete, or something else of general woodwork?
If it is turned object, maybe you should put the request here https://www.woodworkforums.com/f8

More details would be useful.
You could always make a skill tester like a ball and cup. The ball is attached to the cup by string and just by holding the cup you need to throw the ball into the cup. This is an old toy and they are available at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, Victoria.
Other items like knitting needles, bread boards, chopping blocks etc come to mind.
A lot depends on your tools and skills, and her interests and needs.

A flat bowl and a wooden sphere. The sphere could be half the size, so it sort of rolls around a bit as its used (even though it is art).
It could be symbolic...even as a marriage moves around and appears to change, the bowl catches you rather than fall.... awwwww.....

both can be made on the lathe
