Videos the making of a Double Iron try plane
I've made a couple of double iron planes (maybe 7 or 8 now?) and figure that it's fairly underrepresented in terms of the important things in how to make one properly.
So I'm putting the layout and making of the plane (made with mostly hand tools) on youtube. I figure that as I'm only able to do a few steps and get a video up (before my phone is full of video time) that it'll take a couple of weeks to get the plane made and get all of the videos up (it only takes two decent 5 hour days to actually make one).

This is the first video of four so far.
I'm trying to make a plane that has nice cosmetics and stellar function, so this isn't just another glue it together and see if it works kind of thing.
Also, I don't sell these planes and I don't make money on youtube (which will be obvious by the video quality!!), so I am gaining nothing from making these videos other than the desire to share how to make these planes. If I show or mention tools that I use, nobody gives them to me or pays me for them. It is as uncommercial as you can get.
I am a user of these planes first, and a maker second, which means that I have a good reference for what makes a good working plane. These videos are long because they are thorough so that whoever decides to make some of these planes knows how to make them to start, and why they're made the way they are.
(I mention in the video that I don't like to share this kind of stuff on forums, because you can't have it out on a discussion of the facts, but I like this one OK!! there's just a couple of other ones in the US that I don't like very much)
